Wei Lin to Debut with D Ensemble at
2026 D Festival

The 2026 D Festival Young Pianist Program has announced the inaugural appearance of the "D Ensemble," the festival’s resident chamber orchestra. The festival has appointed young conductor Wei Lin to take the podium, leading the ensemble in concerto performances featuring young pianists from around the globe.

Wei Lin is a rising star in the conducting world, recently crowned the winner of the 7th Bucharest International Conducting Competition. He holds dual Master’s degrees in conducting from the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in Beijing and the University of Music Würzburg in Germany. Formerly the assistant conductor of the Nanchang Symphony Orchestra, Lin studied under Professor Chen Lin, head of the Conducting Department at CCOM, and Finnish conductor Professor Ari Rasilainen.
In 2025, Lin garnered significant acclaim during the Bucharest International Conducting Competition laureates' concert. Leading the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra at the historic Romanian Athenaeum, his interpretation of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 played to a sold-out house and received an enthusiastic reception from the audience.
Later that year, following a highly competitive global selection process, Lin was chosen as one of only five young conductors to attend Riccardo Muti’s Italian Opera Academy in Tokyo. Under Maestro Muti’s personal mentorship, Lin successfully conducted a performance of Verdi’s opera Simon Boccanegra.
Known for his rigorous work ethic and solid professional foundation, Lin has accumulated extensive rehearsal and stage experience serving as assistant conductor to renowned figures such as Professor Yu Feng (former President of CCOM), Professor Chen Lin, Professor Zhu Man, and Italian conductor Marco Bellei.
Lin’s professional portfolio includes collaborations with numerous prestigious ensembles, including the Hofer Symphoniker (Germany), Bucharest Symphony Orchestra (Romania), Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), Würzburg University of Music Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg University of Music Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Spring Festival Orchestra, CCOM Symphony Orchestra, Nanchang Symphony Orchestra, Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra, Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra, and the Fujian Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to the orchestral debut, this year's D Festival will renew its partnership with the Quartet Daedalus, providing young pianists with high-level chamber music collaboration opportunities. For the first time, the festival will introduce specialized rehearsal curricula, where students will learn the nuances of collaborating with both orchestras and chamber ensembles under expert guidance.
Adhering to its core philosophy of "placing equal emphasis on education and the stage," D Festival continues to provide a systematic and comprehensive platform for the growth of the next generation of artists through a blend of coursework, rehearsals, and collaborative performance.
