Wei Lin

Winner of the 7th Bucharest International Conducting Competition.

Biography

Lin Wei is the First Prize winner of the 7th Bucharest International Conducting Competition. He holds dual master’s degrees in conducting from the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing) and the University of Music Würzburg (Germany), and formerly served as Assistant Conductor of the Nanchang Symphony Orchestra. His principal mentors include Professor Chen Lin, Chair of the Conducting Department at the Central Conservatory of Music, and Finnish conductor Professor Ari Rasilainen.

In 2025, following his victory at the Bucharest International Conducting Competition, Lin conducted the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra in a sold-out performance of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 at the historic Romanian Athenaeum (Ateneul Român), receiving critical acclaim. That same year, he was selected through a rigorous global search as one of five young conductors for Riccardo Muti’s Italian Opera Academy in Tokyo. Under Maestro Muti’s personal guidance, Lin successfully conducted Verdi’s opera Simon Boccanegra.

Known for his rigorous work ethic and solid professional technique, Lin has built extensive rehearsal and performance experience. He has served as assistant conductor to prominent figures such as Professor Yu Feng (former President of the Central Conservatory of Music), Professor Chen Lin, Professor Zhu Man, and Italian conductor Professor Marco Bellei.

Lin has collaborated with numerous professional orchestras, including the Hofer Symphoniker (Germany), Bucharest Symphony Orchestra (Romania), Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), University of Music Würzburg Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg University of Music Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Spring Festival Orchestra, Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, Nanchang Symphony Orchestra, Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra, Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra, and Fujian Symphony Orchestra.
